The Cold Cut Cobra system is designed for versatile installation across a wide range of vehicles. Here’s what you should consider when planning your installation.
Cold Cut Systems offers five distinct configurations of the Cobra system. These range from setups for larger fire trucks in collaboration with vehicle coachbuilders to the Cobra Skid Unit – an easy-to-fit option for smaller vehicles.
But which configuration is the optimal solution for your vehicle?
Henrik Johansen, Project Lead and Designer at Cold Cut Systems, recommends starting the process by asking two key questions: What are our needs, and how do we plan to use the cutting extinguisher?
First, map out your needs. For example, will you use the equipment to extinguish fires in battery-electric cars or to pierce building structures to access hard-to-reach spaces such as basements or attics?” says Henrik.
“Then,” he adds, “consult with your local Cold Cut Systems representative to determine the ideal Cobra system installation for your needs. Our five basic configurations are the result of extensive development, designed to suit a wide variety of vehicles.
Firefighting organizations often have an initial idea of the type of vehicle they want to upgrade or invest in, as well as the equipment they require. Factors such as vehicle specifications, Power Take-Off (PTO) options, hydraulic equipment, access to the water tank, and weight restrictions all play a critical role in determining the most suitable Cobra system.
Cold Cut Systems’ goal is to be involved in this process as early as possible.
“It’s beneficial for everyone if we can be involved in the installation process early on,” Henrik explains. “We frequently collaborate with coachbuilders to help identify the best solutions for installation, including the optimal placement of components.”
Another crucial factor to consider is serviceability.
“We aim to ensure that the Cobra system is installed in a way that makes servicing straightforward,” Henrik adds. “A fire truck shouldn’t be stuck in the workshop – it should be out saving lives.”
