Case Study: EV Battery Fire – NL

News

Effective EV fire response – Minimising traffic impact through rapid intervention.
Electric vehicle fires present complex challenges – especially when it comes to safety, speed, and control. In January 2024, a car caught fire on the A15 in the Netherlands. The local fire and rescue service used the Cobra system early in the response to prevent the fire from escalating and to limit the impact.

Cobra was applied to identified hotspots to lower the temperature and help prevent further propagation. The car was later transported for follow-up inspection, where thermal imaging showed no re-ignition or signs of continued cell reaction.

This incident shows how Cobra can support a safer and more controlled approach when dealing with EV battery fires.
